My husband has his tentative deployment dates. Nothing is official but he’s been put on the board for his pre-deployment training thing (I’m so sorry about the vague-ness) and has a time frame.

The time is quite nice actually. He’ll be here for the holidays and come back just in time for our anniversary. It’s kind of expected that you take a huge chunk of leave after a deployment so no one should even fuss about taking our planned 10 day trip up the coast/wine country.

It’s not as perfect as the one over the holidays as far as planned trips/guests goes, but not bad. My family will still come out in February and in March I can spend spring break with my in-laws again. Anybody looking to come out to visit us, next spring would be the time!

So I’ve got an out-of-town bachelorette party this weekend. I will talk about it more later - both because I’m annoyed by some things and then also there will be a recap. But I want your opinion on one matter.

I’m trying to decide if I should just figure out my budget for the weekend and take it all in cash. I need cash anyway to pay my share of the groceries & if we have to take a cab anywhere. So I was thinking it could be a good way for me to not get drunk with an open tab - I get very generous and very “it’s only money” when I’m wasted at specialty events/celebrations. Plus I don’t know these people so it could prevent me from going too far on the hammered scale and doing something completely embarrassing.

But I have a tendency to lose things and if I lose cash it’s gone. But I can lose a card and just cancel it/get a replacement. I was concerned about spending more in cash with tips because I’d tip every time paying cash instead of one big one at the end, but I figured out if I spend $5+ per trip to the bar the math works out so that isn’t as much of a consideration as I thought.

My thoughts have them pretty equal and I’m honestly torn as the best idea. I’d love to hear your opinions and maybe you’ll point out something I haven’t thought of yet.

Jem has had a really high fever yesterday & today. My mom left me with a ton of food so I didn’t have to cook last week when The Captain was gone. So we have no food. I didn’t get to the store yesterday. I don’t want to go today. I’m trying to figure out what to cook and I’m bored with everything. I’m trying to figure out things for us to go do so I’m done being trapped in the house with the whining, but I can’t b/c of the fever.

The Captain is useless with mealplanning. He never has any thoughts, and he doesn’t care about healthy eating for himself or for the kids and their diet really stresses me out.

I know it’s father’s day, but my husband wanted to go up to Mt. Charleston for a picnic but he’s doing nothing to help me get that happen. And I’m so frustrated trying to pick recipes & groceries and I’m just tired of being responsible for everything and so I don’t want to let him lounge around on the internet or video games because I feel like he does that all the damn time.

Basically, I’m a bitch.

It’s really, really good! At first I didn’t know anything about it and I didn’t have much interest in finding out. Then we had someone recommend it, so I thought I’d try to read the books first, but The Captain really didn’t want to wait that long so we started it when he got back late Friday night.

Our friends who have been bugging us to watch it own season 1 so they let us borrow it. We’re hooked. Considering we can only watch them when the kids are in bed, we’re making good progress. We need to get our hands on a copy of season 2! :)

There was some miscommunication causing a lot of unnecessary stress/drama over a luau party tonight.

Then I “won” a gift from a new air purification store that opened so I called the lady back and she was like we want to bring it to you and then she started asking all sorts of weird questions and she said it was b/c when they bring the gift they’re going to do “a little demonstration” of their products and I was like uh no thanks you can give my knife set to someone else because I don’t want a sales pitch this afternoon. So I feel yucky for turning people down because I have a hard time saying no. And then also because my husband has me convinced it was a scam and now I’m picturing all sorts of scenarios that they are going to stalk our house and break in and kill our dog and kidnap our kids to sell on the black market.

Plus I had too much wine last night.

So I just want to barf. And crawl into bed all day. And possibly move houses to stay safe.

So The Capt got on an earlier flight. Which closed the door & left the gate on time. And then I guess sat on the Tarmac for an hour & a half (according to when flightaware had it taking off). So he’s not really going to be in much earlier than originally expected.

I got excited he’d get to see the kids. Now I’m torn between keeping them up for him & making sure they’re asleep so we can get on the train to funkytown.

The Captain’s class ended early - very not shocking as there were only 4 people in it. 2 people didn’t show up for the earlier flight out of Fayettville so he’s en route to ATL already! The problem will be having an open seat on a flight to LAS on a Friday. That is super unlikely to happen.
